As for what the future holds, while there's still no news regarding Universal's LEGO cinematic universe, famous singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams recently announced a biopic of his life titled Piece by Piece, which will tell his story using LEGO animation. This will release in theatres this October. This was surprising news for sure, but if I'm being honest, if I were to make a movie about my life I'd probably do the same! It's good to know we haven't seen the end of the beloved toy on the big screen, but I will always miss Warner Bros' LEGO Movie universe that kicked off an entire decade ago today.
Do you remember the first time you saw The LEGO Movie? The film that started it all graced the silver screen ten years ago today! It feels crazy to say that. I have fond memories of its hype and release. I was so excited, my brother and I made this very website months before the movie came out! It remains to this day one of my all-time favorite movies, and I'll always look back fondly on the LEGO Movie series. Happy 10th anniversary, The LEGO Movie! Everything is still AWESOME!!!

An announcement regarding the next LEGO movie is imminent, says the producer of the previous four films. While appearing on The Ankler's Hot Seat podcast, Dan Lin had this to say about the upcoming film: We know we have to switch it up and take to a different art form that's still true to LEGO. We should have some announcements soon… I think we've reinvented it in a cool way. .Of course, this film will have no connection to Warner Bros.' four LEGO movies, as LEGO licensed their film rights to Universal in 2019 after The LEGO Movie 2 performed poorly in the box-office. We know there will be an animation/live-action hybrid film titled "The Missing Piece", which was a fan submission on the website LEGO World Builder. It is not known if this is the next movie, or if something else will start off the Universal's LEGO cinematic universe.
It's interesting to hear about the different art style. Could anything possibly be better than Warner Bros.' realistic mock-stop-motion look? We'll just have to wait and see. Hey, all! After sharing the news about the cancelled The Billion Brick Race movie, I couldn't help but wonder how these characters would've looked if they had existed as real-life minifigures, so I put together this edit of Jane Dangerburger and Brody Reyes! In the concept art, they appeared both with yellow skin and realistic skin tones, and I decided to go with yellow as it made the most sense to me for unlicensed minifigures. I posted this over at my Instagram account @nathanael.cole.1, where I post LEGO edits like this all the time, and I'd really appreciate it if you gave me a follow! It's a shame we'll never own these minifigures, but I hope you liked this edit of what they may have looked like!
It looks like The LEGO Movie 2 has it's Everything is Awesome, and it's just as catchy. In fact it's LITERALLY called Catchy Song. If that's not enough of a warning that you're going to be singing this for the next week straight, I don't know what is. So be ready for this song by Dillon Francis featuring T-Pain and That Girl Lay Lay to, as the song says, get stuck in your head, and hear what the stars of the film have to say about it below!
We are now less than a month away from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, releasing February 8 2019!
It seems that a sequel to 2017's The LEGO Batman Movie may be on the way! Director Chris McKay was asked on Twitter if we can expect another film, and he responded saying that they are working on that right now, and that in the meantime, LEGO Batman will be in The LEGO Movie 2 this February.
Now whether this means they are working on getting it greenlit, or that it's already past that point and is currently in development is uncertain. Either way, I certainly wouldn't say no to a sequel to such a great movie and the amazing sets and minifigures that come along with it! What do you think?
Several more images of these sets and the minifigures included can be found at The Brothers Brick.
